Supreme Court Holds Two Pre-Hearing Conferences for Criminal Appeals, Applications

The Supreme Court this week held two pre-hearing conferences for criminal appeals presided over by Justice Christopher Madrama Izama and Lady Justice Elizabeth Musoke on Wednesday, June 26, and Friday, June 28,respectively.
The pre-conferences handled 30 appeals with each of the Justices handling 15 matters.
The Court's Registrar, Her Worship Harriet Ssali Nalukwago, said the objective of the conferences was to fix hearing dates for the criminal appeals, determine the format for presentation of arguments and timeframes for filing written submissions.
Advocates, representing the appellants, were present in court together with State Attorneys from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution while the appellants appeared via videoconferencing.
The next Criminal Appeals pre-hearing conference is scheduled for Wednesday, July 10 before Lady Justice Monica Mugenyi.
